Day in the Life: Creative Entrepreneur & Stay at Home Mom
Day in the Life: Creative Entrepreneur & Stay at Home Mom
I often get asked how I have time to pursue my creative goals while also being a stay at home mom. It might seem like there is some magic formula, but for me it’s really about having a vision, setting goals, and sticking to a schedule.
I thought it would be helpful to pull back the curtain and give you a glimpse into what my average workday looks like. Keep in mind, not everyday is productive and some days nothing gets accomplished at all. For me, it’s all about having goals and moving towards them one step at a time.
We have 2 boys. Finn is 3 years old and Ollie is 6 months old. During the work week my husband helps with wake up time, dinner, and bedtime. During the 9-5 hours, our toddler goes to daycare and the baby stays at home with me.
I hope this schedule helps to show just one example of how creative goals can be pursued while building a family along the way. Little steps really do add up over time.
The Schedule:
6:30 AM - Wake Up Time / Ollie Bottle
7:30 AM - Finn Drop Off at Daycare
8:00 AM - Ollie Feed solids
— Ollie Nap / Work Time —
11:00 AM- Ollie Bottle
12:00 PM - Ollie Feed solids
— Ollie Nap / Work Time —
2:30 PM- Walk with Ollie
3:00 PM- Ollie Bottle
4:00 PM - Ollie Feed solids
— Ollie Cat Nap / Clean Up —
5:00 PM Prep Dinner
5:30 PM Dinner Time
6:30 PM- Ollie Bottle
7:00 PM Bath & Bedtime
7:30 PM Adult Time
8:30 PM Fall asleep on couch 😅
9:00-9:30 PM Bedtime
Thats what my typical day looks like. You can see from the schedule I mainly have 2 time blocks where work actually gets done. Total work time is ~3 hours a day. I really try to prioritize family outside of the working hours, but, I do sometimes work on the weekends or in the evening. Since I really love what I do, it doesn’t always feel like work to me.
